How Do You Play Blues Guitar?

Okay so now you know how to play guitar decently with riffs and chords. Either way, some how you are here and you want to begin learning how to play blues guitar. And why shouldn’t it, blues guitar sounds really neat. It’s pretty cool because you get to tell a story and express your feelings through a song. Who do you think is your favorite blues guitar player? Mine would have to be Stevie Ray Vaughn or BB King, I just love the way they expressed themselves through the music. So what really defines blues guitar anyways?

Blues guitar can be traced all they way back to slaves. It was the style that they sang their songs, laying down a simple 3 chord progression to tell a story. And that is basically it, blues guitar in its simplest form is just 3 simple chords. Technically, you probably won’t find any easy songs like that. A lot of Stevie’s have some powerful solos and heavy guitar riffs, but you can really notice the bluesy feel. This will mean that he is going to be sticking to a blues scale during his solos, so he keeps the music related. There are so many other ingredients in the blues guitar pot, but break it down and you just have 3 simple chords.

So how do you want to start learning how to play blues guitar? Most people will immediately think about classes or a tutor and then will be sad when they know that they can’t have either.
