Epiphone Sheraton II Electric Guitar – How to recreate the sounds of John Lee Hooker

The Epiphone Sheraton II electric guitar is the symbol of the boogie man – John Lee Hooker. Stylish and yet very unique.

With a beautiful pearl inlaid neck that feels extremely smooth and slick, the Epiphone Sheraton II guitar lets you play completely at ease. Personally I think the 24.75 inch scale has something to do with that. I have often suffered from tendonitis in the elbow of my fingering arm and somehow shorter scale guitars just don’t seem to give me the same problem.

Designed with a semi-hollow structure, the Epiphone Sheraton II electric guitar comprises of a solid center block and hollow “wings” to have or create the fat, rich tone of a jazz guitar. The guitar has an arched maple top, back, and rim with a 3-piece maple neck and gold-plated hardware. Some of its other exquisite features are multi-ply bound body, beautiful neck and headstock, and f-holes. To produce the awesome blues and jazz music, it has two gold-plated humbucker pickups and separate tone and volume controls for each pickup. The conventional maple laminate body with a mahogany center block renders amazing tone and sustain.

This Epiphone Sheraton II guitar, although at a great price, is something considerably better than an entry level guitar. It’s a version of what John Lee would have played back in the 1960’s, albeit  a version that gives you and I the chance to have a small piece of history and also an archtop guitar that looks and sounds awesome.

Will you sound just like John Lee Hooker? Probably not because nobody will sound just like John Lee. There was only one JLH (may he RIP) but the Epiphone Sheraton II guitar gives you an opportunity to explore his style of electric delta blues…and simply come up with something that is your own sound.

I love Epiphone Sheraton guitars for the two most basic reasons of awesome sound and action. The smooth action holds tuning flawlessly, and offers an incredible range of tonal variations.
